Our Mission Statement

1. The Cult believes in the ideology that states that there are many different pantheons of Deities. As an entity, The Cult believes in the pantheon of Norse/Germanic Deities as the True and valid system of belief. Our religion is “Vanic Witchdom”. Our spiritual path is “Germanic/Norse Heathenism”. We reconcile the two concepts of religion and spiritual path as valid and complete by ascribing to and adhering to the common concept of “Troth”. 2. We believe that the fires of Muspelheim met with the ice of Nifelheim in the boundless void of Ginunugap and all else “that has become” occurred from that event. 3. Within our hearts, minds, souls, and realities, our Gods and Goddesses are real, living, self-aware deities. 4. The Cult adheres to the common Heathen moral and ethical code of “The Nine Noble Virtues”. The virtues are: Courage, Truth, Honor, Discipline, Hospitality, Self-Reliance, Perseverance, Industriousness, and Fidelity. The Cult also adheres to a Vanic ethical code which is a system that espouses noble and honorable living within the framework of the lifestyle of Vanic Witchdom. 5. The Cult espouses hard Reconstructionism. We believe that the mythology of the Norse Pantheon, as well as the Sagas and other writings of antiquity are a direct link to the mindset and lifestyle of our forebears. To accurately reconstruct their religion, we must believe in the paramount importance of these documents. Additionally, The Cult actively supports the inclusion of archeological and anthropological evidence and findings into its methods of reconstruction. 6. The purpose of The Cult of The Wise is to provide a place for the practice and evolution of the Vanic half of the spiritual practices of the Folk. It is a place to grow, learn, teach, share, gain, and serve. 7. Within The Cult, religious leaders are known as “Gođar”, “Gođi” (Priest) and “Gyđia” (Priestess) and “Vitki” (Magician). Other terms and stations of leadership include “Spćkona” (Spae-woman) and“Seiđkona” (Seiđh Woman), as well as the inclusion of the terms of these practitioners of opposite gender. Our leaders serve and guide our religious gatherings and are entrusted with the spiritual care and needs of the Folk, as well as carry the responsibility of instruction of their skills to those seeking to learn. 8. The Cult observes the following Holy Days: • Disting/Charming of the Plow (Rite) - (approximately February 14). • Vali (The Feast of the Family) (Blot) – (approximately February 14). • Ostara/Summer Finding/Spring Solstice (Rite) – (approximately March 21). • Festival of the Homeland (Blot) • May Eve (Rite) – (April 30). • Midsummer Festival of Baldr/Summer Solstice (Rite) – (approximately June 21). • The Peak of Summer Harvest (Blot) – (approximately August 1). • Thing’s Tide/Discovery of the Runes (Rite) – (approximately August 21). • Winter Finding/Harvest (Rite) – (approximately Spetember 23). • The First Day of Deer Season (Rite) – (October 1). • The Feast of The Einheriar – (Blot) • Winter Nights (Rite) – (approximately October 14). • Walspurgistnacht (Rite) – (approximately October 31). • Observation of The Last Harvest (Blot) – (Begins the Sunday of the last week of November). • The Mother Night/Yule/Midwinter (Rite) – (begins approximately December 12). • Lunar Eclipses (Working Night) – (Depending on date of occurrence). • Solar Eclipses (Working Night) – (Depending on date of occurrence). • The Blue Moon (Working Night) – (Depending on date of occurrence). • The Hunter’s Moon (Working Night) – (Depending on date of occurrence). • New Moons (Working Night) – (Depending on date of occurrence). • Full Moons (Working Night) – (Depending on date of occurrence). • The Cult’s Official Founding Date Anniversary (Feast) - (to be determined). • Member birthdays (events vary). • The Holy Rite of Symbel (Rite) – (as the need arises). 9. The Cult of The Wise believes in the oracular process known as "SeiđR" and the process of Foreseeing known as “Spćcrćft”. Therefore, in conjunction with our dedication to serving the Folk, we are dedicated to the continued research and reformation of this ancient system. Seidh rituals are held throughout the year to both serve the Folk and assure the continuance of this tradition’s restoration of these unique gifts as valid tools of the modern Heathen movement. 10. The Cult of the Wise believes that our children are our stake in immortality. They are the continuation of The Folk. We affirm that we should serve to maintain a good example for those precious future leaders in both word and deed.
